Resume Signal, explained
An editorial roster about brand recognition on a résumé — not a quality ranking in disguise.
August 12, 2026
Resume Signal is a curated shortlist about how a school name tends to travel on a résumé — regional familiarity, national brand, and the kinds of signals employers and readers already carry in their heads. It is editorial on purpose. It is not a claim that these colleges are the best teachers, the best bargains, or the best fit for you.
How to read it without fooling yourself
- Membership and order are human judgment, not a Scorecard sort.
- Scorecard figures appear as context — earnings, price, admit rate — not as the thing being optimized.
- Tiers and blurbs are labels for exploration, not a GPA-style quality score.
If you want federal measures without résumé folklore, leave Resume Signal and open a metric list or the engine. If you want brand geography as one input among many, keep it — just do not let it masquerade as outcomes data.
